GTA 6 100% completion: 10 tips to get there

General strategies to 100% an open-world game: planning, missables, zone-by-zone routes and avoiding burnout.

100% completing an open-world game is a marathon, not a sprint. These tips are general strategies that work for any big game. They don't rely on specific game details, so you can use them from day one. Once the real data is known, we'll publish specific guides for each category.

1. Enjoy the story first

It's tempting to grab everything from minute one, but it's usually a bad idea. Many activities unlock as you progress, and it's easy to burn out hunting for things that aren't available yet. Play the story at your own pace and save the deep clean for when you have more tools and more of the map open.

2. The exception: missables

The only things you shouldn't leave for the end are the ones you can miss. In ViceTracker, turn on the Missables only filter (for example, in Side missions) before major missions and check what's still pending. If a game warns you about a "point of no return", take it seriously.

3. Go zone by zone, not category by category

Chasing every item in one category forces you to cross the map again and again. It's far more efficient to pick a zone and finish everything in it. In the tracker, use the zone filter together with "Missing" to see that area's list.

4. Check things off right away

It sounds obvious, but it's the most common mistake: getting something and thinking "I'll mark it later". Check off each item as soon as you get it. With your phone next to you it takes a second, and it saves you doubts and repeated trips.

5. Don't trust your memory

After dozens of hours, every corner of the map starts to look the same. If you're not sure whether you got something, the honest answer is "I don't know". The same goes for any percentage the game itself shows: use it to cross-check your checklist.

6. Make manual saves often

If the game allows it, rotate between several save slots. That way, if something goes wrong (a bug, a choice you regret or a missable you skipped), you can go back without losing hours of progress.

7. Break the goal into small milestones

"Get 100%" is demotivating; "finish what's left in this zone" or "get one category to 50%" isn't. The per-category progress bars are made for this: celebrate every small milestone.

8. Mix up your activities

Spending hours doing the same thing is the perfect recipe for boredom. Alternate collectibles with side missions, activities and simply exploring. Variety keeps you motivated for longer.

9. Watch out for spoilers and unreliable sources

In the first days after a launch, a lot of unverified information goes around. Before trusting a location or requirement, make sure it comes from a reliable source. ViceTracker will only publish verified data and will flag anything that's still provisional.

10. Back up your progress

Your checklist matters as much as your save file. Export your progress from My progress now and then, especially before clearing your browser or switching devices.

In short

  1. Story first, clean-up later.
  2. Always keep missables under control.
  3. Plan routes by zone.
  4. Check off instantly and keep backups.
  5. Small milestones and variety to avoid burnout.
