GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. According to Rockstar, it releases at midnight local time in all regions, digital pre-load starts on November 10, and it needs up to 212 GB of free space (official source). If you want to start playing as soon as possible, and go for 100% as well, this checklist helps you get ready.
The days before
- Make room: up to 212 GB. That's Rockstar's official figure for the pre-load, depending on your device. Check your console's free space and uninstall what you don't play. Our GTA 6 pre-load guide walks you through it.
- Pre-load from November 10. On PS5 it starts at midnight local time; on Xbox Series X|S, at 12:00 a.m. GMT worldwide at the same moment.
- Get your console ready. Rockstar says you need auto-downloads (PS5) or automatic updates (Xbox) turned on, and the console powered on or in Rest/Sleep mode.
- Update your console. Install any pending system updates so they don't catch you right when you want to play.
- Check your online subscription if you plan to play online modes on your platform and know you'll need it.
- Try ViceTracker on your phone. Open the tracker, add it to your home screen and get familiar with the filters.
On launch day
- Check the time. The game unlocks at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday the 19th in your local time, in other words the night from Wednesday the 18th into Thursday the 19th. Details in what time GTA 6 releases.
- Install the day-one update before you start, if there is one.
- Check your settings: subtitles, language, brightness and controls. It's worth five minutes before diving into the story.
- Keep the tracker open beside you. Real collectible data will be available from November 19; we'll keep filling it in with verified data.
- Mute social media and group chats if you want to avoid spoilers. The first days are the riskiest.
Your first hours
Take it easy. Explore, enjoy the story and check off in ViceTracker whatever you find along the way. There's no need to optimize from minute one: you'll have plenty of time to plan routes once you know the map better. Take care of yourself
Marathon sessions are part of the fun of a launch, but take breaks, drink water and rest your eyes. The game will still be there tomorrow, and so will your ViceTracker progress.
